This ceremonial cacao is grown in a remote village in Guatemala of 125 families located in the Alta Verapaz department - known as the mountains of True Peace. Their village is disconnected from the rest of the world except for a footbridge crossing the raging Cahabón river, and because of this, are still very much connected to their indigenous traditions around cacao and her medicine. They practice regenerative agroforestry.  Great intention and care is taken in the growing and harvesting of the cacao beans.

This cacao is of the purest quality; it's ethically sourced with minimal processing, no added ingredients or fillers, and lab tested for safety, meeting EU standards for absence of heavy metals. It is made from a single ingredient: whole cacao beans, with nothing added or removed. Love, gratitude, and intention are woven into every step.

It can awaken compassion, care, and the ability to reflect with love and honesty. This cacao carries with it a strong, wise, yet graceful and mothering energy. It is perfect for a daily ritual of connection to self and when shared with community, activates our awareness to our inextricable connection to each other.

Health Benefits of Cacao

Indulging in the rich and ancient tradition of ceremonial cacao is a journey that awakens the senses, nourishes the body, and soothes the soul. From its deep historical roots to its profound impact on overall well-being, ceremonial cacao offers a plethora of benefits that go beyond mere enjoyment.

1. Heart-Opening Bliss:

Ceremonial cacao is renowned for its ability to gently open the heart space, inviting a sense of love, compassion, and connection. The natural compounds found in cacao, such as phenylethylamine (PEA) and anandamide, promote feelings of euphoria and enhance emotional well-being, creating a heightened sense of bliss and joy.

2. Enhanced Focus and Clarity:

Within ceremonial cacao lies theobromine, a natural stimulant that can provide a gentle boost of energy and focus without the jittery side effects associated with caffeine. The combination of theobromine and other neuroactive compounds in cacao helps sharpen mental clarity, improve concentration, and support cognitive function.

3. Mood Upliftment and Stress Relief:

The blissful experience of drinking ceremonial cacao extends to its mood-enhancing properties. Cacao stimulates the release of endorphins and serotonin in the brain, promoting a sense of happiness, relaxation, and stress relief. It can help alleviate anxiety, reduce tension, and create an overall sense of well-being.

4. Nourishment for the Body:

Ceremonial cacao is packed with essential minerals. These minerals contribute to numerous bodily functions, such as maintaining healthy bones, supporting the immune system, and aiding in muscle and nerve function. Magnesium is chronically deficient in the majority of western diets, and cacao is the highest naturally occurring source. Magnesium is used in all key brain functions, especially memory and concentration. It is also beneficial for the function of the heart, acting to relax blood vessels and decrease strain. Besides magnesium, cacao is also the highest naturally occurring source of chromium, and also high in copper, calcium, manganese, zinc, sulfur, iron, and phosphorus.

5. Antioxidant Powerhouse:

Cacao is rich in antioxidants, particularly flavonoids. These potent compounds help combat oxidative stress, reduce inflammation, and support overall cellular health. By drinking ceremonial cacao regularly, you can boost your antioxidant intake and promote a healthy, radiant glow from the inside out.

6. Heart Health Support:

Research suggests that the flavonoids in cacao have the potential to improve cardiovascular health. They may help lower blood pressure, reduce LDL cholesterol levels, and improve blood flow, thus promoting a healthy heart and reducing the risk of heart-related conditions.

7. Spiritual Connection and Meditation Aid:

For centuries, ceremonial cacao has been used as a sacred plant medicine in spiritual rituals and ceremonies. Its ability to enhance focus, heighten awareness, and promote a sense of presence makes it a valuable ally for meditation, inner exploration, and spiritual practices. Drinking ceremonial cacao can deepen your connection to yourself, the divine, and the world around you.

8. Aphrodisiac Properties:

Known as the "food of the gods," cacao has long been associated with love and passion. It contains compounds that can stimulate the production of endorphins and phenylethylamine, promoting feelings of pleasure and desire. Drinking ceremonial cacao can help create a sensuous and intimate atmosphere, igniting the flame of romance and enhancing your love life.

9. Immune System Boost:

The powerful combination of antioxidants, minerals, and other beneficial compounds in ceremonial cacao can help strengthen the immune system. By supporting overall health and reducing inflammation, cacao can contribute to a robust immune response, helping your body ward off illnesses and maintain optimal well-being.

10. Ritual and Self-Care:

Last but certainly not least, drinking ceremonial cacao offers an opportunity for self-care and embracing mindful rituals. Carving out dedicated time to prepare and savor your cacao allows you to slow down, disconnect from the noise of daily life, and create a sacred space for yourself. The act of mindfully sipping cacao can become a meditative practice, promoting relaxation, self-reflection, and inner peace. It is a beautiful way to nurture yourself, honor your well-being, and cultivate a deeper connection with the present moment.

Ceremonial Cacao Beginnings

The Olmecs, the earliest known mesoamerican civilization, first discovered and used cacao around 1500 B.C. And then the Mayans began using it ritualistically around 600 B.C. and even incorporated it into their creation mythology.

The Cacao beans were used as currency as well as pulverized and mixed with water to create drinking cacao. This mixture was only drunk by elites and during ceremonies (of all types). The cacao was believed to be a gift from the Gods and drinking it calmed the spirit and connected you to the earth. The Mayans believed that cacao restored the balance between humans and nature.
